Hi I’m Alex, and I’m a language and translation enthusiast!
In 2017 I completed a Masters degree from Cardiff University in Translation Studies. After graduating from my undergraduate degree back in 2015, I started blogging about languages and translation. Sometimes as a student, it’s hard to find articles from your point of view – lots of people can give the benefit of their experience, but what about as it’s actually happening?
My posts are mainly aimed at languages and translation lovers of all ages and from all over the world! As a translation student myself, I hope to encourage more people to study languages at any stage in life and to help them realise the importance of translation day-to-day.
I studied BA Translation at Cardiff and went on to complete two summer internships, transcribing, translating and summarising the essays of Franz Liszt and Johanna Kinkel – these projects are currently ongoing. I also worked on a research project analysing three German plays and their translation into English.
In my daily life I work as a Learning Support Assistant in a Secondary School, helping children with additional needs access mainstream education. In September 2018 I will begin a PGCE with School Direct to become an MFL teacher!
My main foreign language is German as well as some Spanish. In April 2018 I began a Skills Knowledge Enhancement course in French with an online distance learning provider, in order to enable me to teach French,
